Another global first for Truphone as we pass the GSMA VoLTE interoperability test
As telecoms pioneers, we’ve always been dedicated to delivering world firsts. Today we’re proud to continue that tradition with the announcement that after rigorous testing, Truphone have been certified as the first ever global MVNO to pass the GSMA’s new interoperability testing for ‘Voice over Long Term Evolution’ (VoLTE) network roaming tests.
As a digital packet voice service delivered over IP via an LTE access network, VoLTE is recognised as the industry-agreed progression of voice calling across mobile networks. As such, it delivers significant value for Operators, OEMs, Network vendors, Partners and Consumers while offering many benefits in terms of both reduced costs and ease and efficiency of operation.
By demonstrating that our network runs VoLTE smoothly and is compatible with any IR.25 compliant device in Germany, the Netherlands and the USA, we’ve proven that customers in these countries can enjoy the best experience possible when voice calling on the Truphone network.
Michael Moorfield, CTO at Truphone said “VoLTE is the new standard for voice calling, enabling our customers to experience seamless HD quality calls. We’re proud that Truphone’s global network has been proven to be VoLTE-compatible in our major markets and we hope this new certification will continue to encourage device manufacturers worldwide to retrieve our latest network configuration from the GSMA Network Setting Exchange and ensure the best possible experience for our customers.”
