Truphone recognised with global Internet of Things provider award from Compass
The Global IoT Innovation Vendor of the Year Award is recognition of Truphone's innovative work in the space.
Truphone, the world's first truly global mobile network, today announced that it has received the Global IoT Innovation Vendor of the Year from marketing analytics and consulting firm Compass Intelligence.
The Compass Intelligence Fall 2016 Awards presents annual awards recognising the top providers and companies in the mobile and high-tech industry. The Internet of Things (IoT) award recognises a company that has demonstrated core leadership, innovation and has gained recognition in the industry by peer companies including producing and integrating core global IoT solutions in the marketplace.
Truphone has won this award because of its work in the IoT space, which includes the launch of the patented SIM card FastSIM and the IoT/Machine-2-Machine (M2M) Connectivity Management platform for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and partners, in February 2016. In a short period, Truphone has gained significant traction in the market, which includes selection for a European-wide Connected Car project with one of the largest Asian car manufacturers.
"We're honoured to receive the Global IoT award which recognises our truly global IoT cellular connectivity proposition with a local service experience," said Bruno Duarte, Head of IoT/M2M. "Mobile network operators have been talking about global IoT/M2M cellular connectivity service for some time but the reality is that standard SIM card and network technologies were not created for global deployments, limit greatly the service experience and raise the connectivity cost. With devices increasing data usage and international mobility, Truphone's proposition became very relevant in the IoT/M2M cellular connectivity space."
