Truphone Io3 awarded GSMA accreditation for M2M eSIM provisioning

Truphone’s market-leading Io3 SIM provisioning platform is now certified for M2M use cases, making it one of only two companies in the world to have all five components of eSIM provisioning certified on the GSMA M2M standard.

The company’s eSIM provisioning platform gained endorsement on the GSMA’s consumer standard in 2018.

Truphone will be at #MWC19 in Barcelona showcasing this technology. We’ll be in Hall 6, Stand 6M60—come and say hello or book a meeting here.

LONDON, UK 14 February 2019Truphone is proud to announce that its Io3 eSIM provisioning platform certification has been extended to support the GSMA machine-to-machine (M2M) remote SIM provisioning standards.

Successful certification against the GSMA Security Accreditation Scheme (SAS) Subscription Management (GSMA SAS-SM) further demonstrates Truphone’s commitment to security and the trust its customers have in its ability to handle sensitive user profiles.

Truphone is one of only two companies worldwide to achieve the full scope of the SAS-SM accreditation (SR, DP, DP+, Data Centre and DS) and is now able to extend its remote SIM provisioning service for eSIM to M2M/IoT devices—all on a single platform.

Two standards for remote SIM provisioning currently exist to support M2M and consumer use cases. In 2018, Truphone was accredited for remote SIM provisioning against the GSMA’s consumer standard and has since been provisioning its own eSIMs to Apple’s latest iPhone series and the Google Pixel 3. Its success on its own global network as well as its full integration into those manufacturers’ ecosystems has seen Truphone licence its eSIM technology to many mobile operators and OEMs over the past six months.

Truphone’s innovative pay-as-you-grow commercial model has also proven attractive. Operators and OEMs pay no upfront cost for SIM profiles and Truphone will only charge when they’re active and making money—ensuring that any investment in our technology is perfectly aligned to the customers’ cash flow.

Steve Alder, Chief Business Development Officer at Truphone said: “The eSIM and remote SIM provisioning technologies are particularly beneficial for M2M and IoT devices, where the configuration process is performed remotely from the device itself. Its advancement is set to open up a broad range of new applications and opportunities for device manufacturers, chipset manufacturers and mobile operators alike.

“This certification demonstrates Truphone’s commitment to deliver simple, secure and efficient connectivity across all devices.”

Ralph Steffens, CEO of Truphone added: “2018 saw the world’s biggest device makers integrate the technology into their most prolific devices: from the latest iPhone series to the Google Pixel 3. Now, as only one of two businesses in the world with full accreditation from the GSMA for both consumer and M2M standards, we are excited to lead the acceleration of this technology to more IoT use cases.”
