Truphone continues eSIM expansion with GSMA accreditation in the Netherlands

Truphone, the first global mobile operator, today announces its most recent expansion in global eSIM services after receiving GSMA accreditation for its remote SIM provisioning solution in the Netherlands.

Having already successfully launched this solution in the UK in 2018, achieving this additional accreditation in the Netherlands signals a growing global demand for eSIM technology.

Truphone's solution enables SIM profiles to be downloaded into eSIM ready smartphones, wearable tech and other IoT devices—rendering the traditional SIM obsolete and allowing devices to work out of the box.

Truphone’s innovative pay-as-you-grow commercial model continues to be an attractive alternative to traditional practices. Operators and device makers pay no upfront cost for SIM profiles and Truphone will only charge when they’re active and making money—ensuring that any investment in the technology is perfectly aligned to its customers’ cash flows.

Following this endorsement by the GSMA, an organisation that sets the standards for the mobile industry globally, Truphone’s eSIM provisioning solution will bring a wider range of deployment options and improved service availability to customers adopting this new eSIM technology.

This announcement follows Truphone’s recent launch in France, where it became a full MVNO in November 2019, marking its ninth official service country.

Ralph SteffensRalph Steffens, CEO, Truphone said: “We are immensely proud to receive GSMA accreditation in the Netherlands. 2019 has been an exceptional year for strengthening our position in Europe, and we intend to maintain this growth into the new year and beyond.

The overwhelming demand for our eSIM provisioning solution similarly signals exciting times ahead for the industry. From humble beginnings provisioning our first eSIM in May 2018, Truphone now provisions over half a million eSIM profiles every month. Demand is only set to grow, and Truphone is thrilled to be leading the charge in the development and roll-out of this technology."
